Safety first
We listened to what drivers like you wanted from an SUV - from interior design ideas such as making the seats more comfortable to extra legroom. Safety, of cource, came first. So we added a range of innovative safety features to all models, including a Rear View Camera with 3.5" display, reinforced bodywork and curtain airbags. This, coupled with Toyota's renowned Driver Assist Technologies (DAT) means Kluger contains an exceptional set of safety features such as Vehicle Control Management System (VCMS).
A first for Kluger, it serves as a link between the various safety enhancing technologies such as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Electric Power Steering (EPS) and Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i). For enhanced stability, the impressive brake package AB-i comprises of the highly efficient Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) all combined to provide added reassurance. Tricky hill starts are a thing of the past with Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) to prevent roll back for 2 seconds. Downhill Assist Control (DAC) is also available on All Wheel Drive models to help you maintain speed and traction in off-road situations.
The High Achiever
Performace was also crucial. With the choice of AWD or 2WD, Kluger gives you the sure-footedness you'd expect from an SUV, with unexpected levels of performance.
Its grippy, dynamic but tactile performance makes it a pleasure to drive on and off road - and delivers over 200kW of remarkable power from its 3.5L Dual VVT-i V6 engine. And yet, all this power doesn't come at high price, as Kluger's engine offers excellent fuel consumption.

Space and practicality plus a strong list of safety equipment gave the 2WD Kluger KX-R the artillery to take down all competitors in the People Mover category of the 2007 Drive Car of the Year. With seven SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control and a Rear View Camera all as standard, Kluger will ensure greater protection for your loved ones and the judges agreed. In the engine department, Kluger’s 3.5 litre all-alloy V6 delivers over 200kW of power along with the option of AWD or 2WD means Kluger can tackle the country or city roads with ease.
